Flight Tools
Here are a number of websites that we find quite useful when planning and preparing for our flights worldwide.
Online Booking Sevices
There are numerous online booking services available these days. We find the Orbitz website has been more consistent in finding good fares for our staff and crew. Orbitz Tip: try both a standard search and then select your favorite alliance (ie: SkyTeam, Star or One World), as this often finds cheaper fares. Visit the Orbitz.com website.
Other Websites include: Travelocity, Expedia, Hotwire, Cheap Tickets.
There are also some websites that provide searches of numerous online sources (including the individual airline websites), then display all of the results. The best known of these are: Kayak.com, Qixo.
Seating Charts
The Seat Guru provides seating charts for most major airlines. It is an excellent resource to refer to when selecting your seats, as they highlight seat problems, such as window seats that don’t actually have a window or seats that don’t recline or are too close to the lavatory. Make sure you have a great seat for your long flights. Visit the SeatGuru.com website, also available for your phone/pda at mobile.seatguru.com.
Flight Status
The Flight Stats website provides current departure information for most major airports worldwide. Before you head to the airport for check in you can see how flights are doing … ontime or delayed. And since they show information for all airlines, you can check to be sure your travel companions, traveling on a different flight, are ontime as well.
