Good Morning. My wife, Mary Kay (MK) and I, are signed up for the "Bike and Sail Polynesia" in June. We will be going in a week early to spend a couple of days on Tahiti, and then three days on Moorea, before joining up with the tour group.

    Three items:

First, would love to hear from anyone else joining this tour, especially if you have participated in the past.

Secondly, any suggestions on the best things to do during our "free time" prior to joining up with the group, and also when we touring the islands, when not biking, would be much appreciated.

Finally, any experience in how to store the bikes prior to joining the cruise. I am thinking that probably the best place would be Papeete airport storage, then pick the bikes up on the Saturday that we meet up, assembling them that morning. Also, I have heard there is a bike store in Papeete, but can't seem to find out much about it. Would like to know more about what it stocks, just in case a spare part is needed, and I can avoid carrying back-up.

Thanks so much for any thoughts, and look foward to meeting up with you if you are going on the tour.

Storing your bikes at the airport saves having to haul them with you during pre- and post-tour time in the islands. But it is not cheap, storage fees are around 1000 xpf (about US$12) per 24 hours. The storage area is behind the lei sales shops across from the terminal (it is not a big airport).

The main bike shop in Papeete is Tahiti-Sports. It carries a basic array of bike parts, mostly mountain bikes, but a few road models. (689) 50 59 58
